Writing a novel will be too difficult, stick to poetry.


Join a writers' group and let amateurs critique your work.


You have to make a story line for your novel.


Map out the whole plot start to finish.


Write profiles for all characters, everything about them.


Don't use any bad language in your writing.


Try to imitate the style of one of your favorite authors.


Don't use dialect, it complicates understanding.


Write what you know.


Fantasy is almost impossible, inventing new worlds.


Historical fiction requires too much research.


Erotic literature is dirty, don't write it.


If you write love poetry or romance it will be assumed personal.


Don't write memoirs or expose the truth.


Go with traditional publishing don't consider self-publishing.


Hire someone to do your covers and illustrations.


You can't edit your own work.
